Public health means different things to different people. It often evokes the image of a child receiving a school vaccination, but the range of public health services and functions is very broad.

We are a multicultural organization of public health professionals, here to serve our community. Not only do we offer vaccinations to protect children against disease, but also home visits to pregnant women and new moms as part of Healthy Start…services and investigations to control outbreaks of infectious diseases...collection and evaluation of health statistics…issue birth and death certificates…clinical services to meet the special health needs of women and children…dental services…birth and death records…nutritional services for expectant and new mothers…septic tank inspections....inspections and permitting of various public-use facilities…public information and inspiration to improve health…a nurse and health technician in every school….
