Public health means different things to different people. It often evokes the image of a child receiving a school vaccination, but the range of public health services and functions is very broad.
We are a
multicultural organization of public health professionals, here to serve our
community. The mission of the Escambia County Health Department is to protect
the public’s health by partnering with the community to: prevent disease,

disease, but also home visits to pregnant women and new moms as part of Healthy
Start…services and investigations to control outbreaks of infectious
diseases...collection and evaluation of health statistics…issue birth and death
certificates…clinical services to meet the special health needs of women and
