A simple way to try and eat your 5-9 servings of fruits and vegetables each day is to eat the colors of the rainbow every day. Blue comes in the form of blueberries, plums and eggplant. Eat green as a kiwi, beans, peas, or asparagus. Have yellow or orange in pineapples, oranges, carrots or squash. And red with apples, beets, and strawberries.

Eating a rainbow of fruits and vegetables every day gives you more energy and helps you fight off chronic diseases such as high blood pressure and diabetes. A diet rich in fiber -- like the fiber in fruits and vegetables -- decreases your risk for becoming overweight or having a stroke.

Tips for Eating More Fruits and Vegetables
1.) Add one more fruit or vegetable to each meal.
2.) Put fruit in your salad.
3.) Use 100% frozen juice for smoothies.
4.) Add string beans or peas to your salads.
5.) Use tomato juice as a veggie soup broth.
6.) Add fruit to your jello.
7.) Add veggie leftovers into a quesadilla.
