As of June 28, 2010, there has been no substantial impact on air quality
in Northwest Florida. On a rare occasion, odors similar to what one
would smell around a gas station, auto repair shop or marina have been
detected. These odors have lasted for a couple to several hours. The
daily air quality index for Northwest Florida can be found at:
www.airnow.gov.
Under ANNOUNCEMENTS is a link to Gulf of Mexico Air Quality
Information including real time ozone and particle pollution
information. Even before the oil spill, the air quality index ranged
between GOOD and MODERATE. Learn more about the

The State of Florida has authorized the U.S. Coast Guard to conduct oil
burns in Florida waters. Florida waters run from the shoreline to 9
miles off-shore. No burns are scheduled. The Escambia County Health
Department will be notified in advance of a burn and will release
information about the dates and timing of the burns to the public
through all normal media outlets. |
